Ahmad joined the predecessor to the AASB, the Australian Accounting Research Foundation (AARF), in 1999. He is currently working on projects including:
- differential reporting
- the reporting entity concept
While seconded to the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB) during 2002-03, he also served as a member of the US Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) advisory committee on the GASB's Asset Impairment project.
Prior to joining the AASB, Ahmad served as a member of the Iranian Accounting Standards Committee. He served on the Iranian Accounting and Auditing Technical Committee and other committees charged with the preparation of system-based and risk-based audit manuals. He also has extensive experience in external audit.
