Eric has over 17 years of experience across academic, technical accounting and standard-setting roles. He had a tenured full-time lecturing position teaching financial accounting and auditing for 10 years at Monash University while completing his Ph.D. He held many roles, including coarse coordinator for a bachelor’s degree and a member of the Faculty and Social Inclusion Committee. In 2015, he joined the AASB as a Research Fellow, working on a range of research projects, including commencing the inaugural AASB Research Forum. He then worked at PwC Capital Markets and Accounting Advisory Services in 2017 and then Deloitte’s National Technical Accounting Team from 2018 working on wide range of technical accounting issues, including implementing new accounting standards. He also had the opportunities to be seconded to large insurance entities implementing accounting standards and finance functions. He returned to the AASB in February 2020.
As AASB Research Principal, Eric leads and manages the AASB research program to enhance the process of evidence-informed standard-setting for all sectors. A key responsibility of the role is to identify and develop research projects and thought leadership papers that are most relevant to the AASB work and its strategic directions. He also plays a significant role in developing relationships with Australian and international researchers and standard-setters.
