Charis Halliday

Executive Director

As Executive Director, Charis leads the team to deliver the standard-setting work programme for the AASB, including accounting standards and sustainability reporting standards. Charis provides strategic and technical leadership to ensure the AASB’s standards and related materials are evidence-informed, practical, globally coherent and fit-for-purpose for the Australian economy, including for for-profit, public sector and not-for-profit entities. Charis also ensures Australian perspectives are represented effectively in international standard-setting and that the AASB’s technical and governance boards are supported to make robust, timely and transparent decisions.

Charis has a strong technical background as both standard setter and advisor. Before joining the AASB, she was the New Zealand External Reporting Board's Technical Director of Accounting Standards.  Prior to this, Charis spent a number of years in a Big 4 financial accounting advisory role guiding CFOs in Australia, Canada and New Zealand through complex financial accounting and reporting issues.
